Here at Mimili Maku Arts we stand proudly on the foundations built by our Elders. Their courage and leadership made the art centre what it is today and reverberates in every painting created in our studio.

Our Elders moved through huge amounts of change throughout their lifetimes: from living off the land, to working on the stations, to finally winning our land back through the APY Land Rights Act. Our Elders gracefully walked this era of change with the next generations at the forefront of their minds. They started the art centres to give us the opportunity to live on country, keep culture strong and have our own business. Today, alongside our current and emerging Elders, we carry their legacy forward and hold Anangu culture strong every day.
